Shut up & Play is a music production company founded by Andrew Yarbrough based in franklin, TN. I am passionate about helping young artists become the sound of tomorrow by defining their authentic and unique sound. I seek to create a world of music defined by bold, authentic, and soulful creativity.

It all started with a song in a stairwell.
In 2023, Jack HArtman brought me a recording of a song he'd written, called 'so long st. augustine'. IT was a fervent tribute born out of grief from his dad's passing. I knew this needed to be recorded, and immediately had a vision for the end result.
I wasn't an expert in all the engineering and mixing tricks. We didn't have the nicest microphones, preamps, or compressors. We just had a few guitars and a relentless, unwavering belief in the song all crammed into a stairwell.
It was through this song that I discovered that great music isn't made with fancy gear or just by following what's hip and trendy - all you need is to be human. To have a soul. To have infinite passion for music.
this is what will define the future of music and the future of the world. Shut Up & Play aims at being a leader in the movement toward more authentic, human artistry.

EXPERIENCE
I started playing music at a very early age and never stopped since. I first started interning at Tony Morra's Downtown Batterie recording studio when I was 14, working my way up the ranks to be the house engineer. During this time, I began experimenting recording myself and songs I'd written with friends. I developed a passion for the art of recording and mixing and have recorded as many things as I could since then, learning and growing all the while.
Between operating front-of-house audio at a variety of venues and recording myself and others in my bedroom and at the studio, I got tons of real, hands-on experience that refined my skills.
For two years, I studied under Saul Zonana, a successful artist, musician, producer, and more. Forming the band PEripheral Drift with my classmates and recording a 5-song EP together taught me more in-depth recording and mixing techniques.
